Oh, wait, wrong group.
Or maybe the right one. I'm an oppoholic. But I've decided to not get into another opportunity unless I can devote myself to it. You see, I'm easily - oh, look, a birdie! Where was I? Never mind.
Having been in MLM for over a decade I've accumulated enough bad karma to have me coming back as maggot food for ten thousand years. On the plus side, I have a fine-tuned b.s. detector. Which is why I buy a lot of guru garbage and never do anything with it or them.
What I want is a basic, ethical, put-food-on-the-table e-business. If it turns into a gazillion dollar enterprise, well, shoot, that's cool.
I'm looking forward to learning from the un-gurus here.

Thanks for the welcome. And the B.S. detector isn't a thing, it's more like a virus. Once you're infected, you're immune. Well, mostly. _________________ Behind the curve in Rock Hill |

My tongue is blue. (Blackcurrant caiparinhos - yum). But, then, you may still be drunk _________________ Phil the Bear

I'm adding this so I don't have to explain where I'm coming from when I post elsewhere. I wish others would do the same. It would be easier to gauge the advice. I mean, a lot of folks have word knowledge, but little world knowledge - meaning they've read a lot of books, but haven't actually done anything.
I was a cube rat for 30 years, IT. Like some others, billionaires who shall go namesless, I built PCs in my basement in the 70s. Didn't see the broader application, though. Plus I was still in that Get an Education, Get a Good Job mode.
In preparation for retirement I got into MLM and over ten years built up a lot of bad karma. One enterprise was TPN, The People's Network, whereby we put all the dead-tree gurus on satellite. That, and MLM is all about selling "educational" material to distributors and not about actual product. I come by my bad karma honestly.
Y2K came along and I figured it was a good time to go follow my bliss, which is writing. And I had some success, but it's only been a paying hobby. Then I discovered Internet Information Marketing. Discovered it just recently, in fact. There's a reason for my sig.
And, technically, I've taught myself most of the stuff, but at this point I can only edit things, but not create them.
I am NOT into networking, newsgroups, forums, or blogs. While I generally enjoy them, it's something I have to make myself do, i.e. stay involved.
So, that's the deal kids. A bit about where I'm coming from. _________________ Behind the curve in Rock Hill |

Joe I reckon most of us have been in that baot and some of us have managed to be promoted to captain of their own ship and some like me and you are still crewmen.
In the short time I have been in this forum I have learned heaps, but in the end it's all about getting out there and doing the job. You have an advantage if you like writing. I did look into the writing site posted by Jim and found some very interesting stuff.
Stick with it mate you will make it, just got to keep going. _________________ Lil'Tony

I don't know whether it's the content or delivery or just the openness, but it's like BAM! my brain has been snapped open.
I read and reread posts, print them out, click links, and follow threads. It all makes sense, even the stuff I don't understand, er, if that makes sense.
And right now I'm jazzed. I haven't been this excited since I don't know when. But you're right l'il T, as the expression goes:
Decisions are not made with words, but with action.
Maybe I'll change my sig to remind me to get, and keep, my tail in gear.
As for being the captain of my own ship, I dunno. Being second or third mate is pretty good, pays well, and with a LOT fewer headaches.
Lastly, about writing. You don't have to be a grammar maven because even the experts disagree on what's correct, but you'd better get the basics right; especially spelling, missing words, and incorrect usage. Buy The Elements of Style and memorize it. (It's a small book.) Use spell check if available and keep a dictionary nearby. (I took three peaks while writing this, even though there's nothing too complex here.) _________________ Behind the curve in Rock Hill |

And, see, don't ya just know I'd screw up! Or maybe I'm just anal. It's:
Decisions are made not with words, but with action.

You are 110% correct - and it's something you'll see me saying again and again on this forum. I am horrendously picky about both sales material and product - because my clients deserve the best not a half-baked sloppy attempt.
(And BTW it should be 'peeks' not 'peaks' - which shows you how anal I can get) _________________ Phil the Bear

It's called a Godseye, Phil. A deliberate imperfection included in a work so as not to compete with you know who. I do it every chance I get. Wanna stay on his good side, know what I mean? _________________ Behind the curve in Rock Hill |
